　　ご回答をありがとうございます。

当マシンはIBM inteli station z pro, cpu はxeon 2.80 x 2です。
また、このマシンはつい最近まで正常に動いていて急に消しゴム
傷害が出てきたのです。

Nvidia driverについては、4496より上のものは（たとえば、6111, 6629）
も入れてみたが、Xが起動しログイン後はすぐフリーズしてしまいます。
