＊＊＊ 今月のミーティング会場は「LinuxProbeホール」です ＊＊＊
LinuxProbe は、Linux で利用できるハードウェア、ソフトウェアの運用性
を検証することを目的とした、特定のメーカー、ベンダーには依存しない中
立的な組織です(http://www.linuxprobe.org/)。今回は LinuxProbe の会場
をお借りして Linux Seminar を開催することになりました。
Linux を利用している、Linux に興味がある、などなど、参加する理由に関係なく、
TLUG はすべての人に門扉を開いています。楽しく、カジュアルに Linux （および他
のトピック）に関する話をし、Linux コミュニティの交流を広げる是非とも参加を歓
迎します。もちろん、Linux ユーザである必要はありません。
ミーティング終了後、「天狗」ニュー赤坂店 港区赤坂3-15-13 冨司林ビルB1
(tel 03-3584-9745）にて宴会を行います。
TLUG（Tokyo Linux Users Group）は東京を本拠に年に結成された日本で最初の
地域LUGです。初期メンバーが外国人だった、という歴史的な理由でメーリングリス
トの議論がいまも英語で行われていて、Gaijin LUG と言われることもありますが、
実際のメンバーは日本人と外国人が半々くらいの日本一、国際色が豊かな LUG です。

*** this month's meeting will take place at LinuxProbe ***
LinuxProbe (http://www.linuxprobe.org) is an organization working
to independently test and certify hardware and software for Linux,
providing unbiased information to serve the Linux community.
Yoshida-san, LinuxProbe President, will be our guest speaker.
The topic will be "Napster and Linux". Napster is a controversial
piece of software that lets anyone share MP3 files with others
freely over the Internet -- so freely that it is generating a lot
of controversy over copyright issues. Yoshida-san will give an
overview of the technical and political issues involved, and
introduce Gnutella, the open-source Napster equivalent for Linux.
The second topic will be public key cryptography, PGP and GPG.
Last March, TLUG "Perl guru" Simon Cozens gave a brief overview
of public key cryptography mechanisms and tools for Linux. In
response to the great interest it created, Simon will be back
to the topic and look at PGP and GPG in more detail. If you
missed his last talk, this might be your last chance to meet
Simon in person, as he will be going back to UK next August!
All Linux users and supporters of open source code and free software
are invited to attend this Tokyo Linux Users Group (TLUG) meeting.
Membership is open to anyone. There are no membership dues or entrance
fees.
After the meeting, we will continue chatting over a few beers:

TLUG is a non-profit, non-political organization established in June
of 1994 to exchange information on the use of Linux and Free Software
Foundation tools. TLUG has an active mailing list, home page, and
regular physical meetings. Discussions are primarily held in English,
but non-English speakers are encouraged to come and participate.
We especially want to encourage Japanese people to attend and will make
efforts to support a bilingual meeting.
TLUG hosts technical meetings every odd month on the 2nd Saturday, and
nomikai's every even month on the 3rd Friday.
