溜島＠スターネット(初投稿のLinux初心者＋便乗質問＋長文)です。 >伊藤＠テンアートニです。 > >> linuxユーザー各位 様 >> >> 益子 紀行と申します。 >> >> IBM-PCにlinuxをinstallしたいのですが、IBM-PCにはインストールが出来ないと言う噂を聞いております。 >> IBM-PCにlinuxをインストールされて使用している方いらっしゃいましたら、教えて頂けませんでしょうか? >> >> 予定linux machine >> >> IBM PC Server 315 > >315はわかりませんが、IBM PC Server 325にはインストールして >出荷しました。(Slackware) Linuxベースの某商用アプリケーションをインストールしたケースでは問題が発生しました。 伊藤＠テンアートニさんが、IBM PC Server 325 でインストールに成功されているので 最新版Linuxでは解決している問題かも知れませんが、便乗質問も兼ねて投稿させて頂きます。 このソフトではインストーラによりＯＳ、アプリのインストールが全て行われるので ユーザーが内部の詳細にタッチ出来ないのですが。(ですから今だにLinux初心者です。) IBM PC Server 325 のオンボードのSCSI I/F を利用してインストールした場合にインストール 終了後リブートすると、通常は「LILO」のように表示されますが「LI」で止まりブートしない と言う問題が発生しました。 詳細を以下に記します。 ベースとなっているLinuxのカーネルはLogによると、Version 2.0.28 を使っているようです。 ＃ＯＳもアプリに合わせてセキュリティを強化しているらしいです。 IBM PC Server 325 のオンボードのSCSI I/F は AIC-7880P BIOS v1.26S1 でした。 AHA-2940UW相当と思います。 オンボードのSCSI I/Fを殺して、AHA-2940UW BIOS v1.23 を挿してインストールさせる と正常に立ち上がるようになります。この状態でオンボードのSCSI I/F を復活させ接続 変更した場合は問題なく動作します。 ハードディスクの情報をPartitionMagic の Partinfo.exe を使って確認すると 立ち上がらない方は、バーティション情報が変だと報告されます。 ＃どんなメッセージだったかは最後に添付します。 色々な環境でテストした結果以下の様になりました。 AIC-7880P BIOS v1.26S1 NG IBM PC Server 325 オンボード AIC-7880P BIOS v1.24S2 OK 別M/B(GIGABYTE GA-586DX)を使用 AHA-2940UW BIOS v1.23 OK IBM PC Server 310に搭載されていた物、IBMシール付 AHA-2940UW BIOS v1.25 OK 普通に買ってきた物 IBM PC Server 315 はシステム・ガイド(97/08版)によると PCI の SCSI I/F が搭載されます。 多分 AHA-2940UW です。 どうもBIOSのバージョンによる問題のように思われます。 AHA-2940UW BIOS v1.26 でテスト出来なかったので本当にそうかと言う自信は無いのですが。 で便乗質問ですが、 同様の経験をされた方はいらっしゃいますか？ どうやって解決されたのでしょうか？ また、BIOSのバージョンとサポートするLinuxのバージョンとの情報をお持ちの方おられますか？ P.S.某商用アプリケーションについては開発元に対応を依頼しています。 そのうちLinuxのカーネルが上がってリリースされると思います。 Partinfo.exeの情報 (異常な場合と正常な場合の２つ) (IBM PC Server 325 + ON Bord AIC-7880P(V1.26S1) + 4.5GBUW x 2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Partition Information Program May 12 1997 - DOS Version Copyright (c) 1994-1997, PowerQuest Corporation Permission is granted for this utility to be freely copied so long as it is not modified in any way.
