McObject's New Single-Threaded eXtremeDB Delivers Powerful, Economical
In-Memory Data Management
Issaquah, WA - January 13, 2004
McObject(R) has introduced a single-threaded, royalty-free version of its
eXtremeDB(tm) in-memory database, delivering a powerful and economical
solution for embedded systems development projects with streamlined database
needs.
Available at the special introductory price of $475 per developer, with no
distribution royalties charged for an application developed under this
license, McObject's single-threaded eXtremeDB fills the need for a powerful,
lower-priced in-memory database. Uses include demanding single-threaded
telecommunications monitoring, manufacturing testing, and real-time
simulation and analysis systems. Royalty-free licensing appeals when
software's distribution model-such as free, mass downloads-makes
license-tracking cumbersome or impossible.
The new single-threaded eXtremeDB offers the same powerful data management
capabilities and unparalleled performance found in the multi-threaded
version. Users can easily upgrade to take advantage of multi-threaded
eXtremeDB with its Shared Memory, High Availability and XML-enabling
add-ons. The single-threaded eXtremeDB, which is available in object code
only, can also be upgraded to obtain database source code.
The single-threaded eXtremeDB is now available for Windows and x86-based
Linux platforms. The software is available for immediate download with
credit card purchases through www.mcobject.com/buyitnow.php, or users can
obtain the product by contacting McObject at sales _at_ mcobject.com or by
calling 425 831 5964.
McObject developed eXtremeDB to support the data-hungry features of
next-generation set-top boxes, network switches, industrial automation and
other intelligent devices. The database accelerates processing by storing
and working with data in main memory, eliminating the performance overhead
of disk I/O, caching and related logic.
Powerful data management features include ACID-compliant transactions, a
high-level data definition language, and an intuitive application
programming interface (API) that catches many common coding errors before
they can become expensive bugs. eXtremeDB's tiny footprint (approximately
100K) makes it a logical choice for embedded systems that must minimize RAM
and CPU demands. By replacing "homegrown" data management code, eXtremeDB
delivers higher system reliability while cutting QA cycles.
"Since McObject introduced eXtremeDB, numerous high-profile companies have
adopted our multi-threaded database, deploying it in complex, demanding
systems. McObject has also recognized a demand for reliable, ultra-fast
single-threaded data management, with one-time pricing, and for this segment
we're happy to offer this new 'entry-level' eXtremeDB," said Steve Graves,
McObject's co-founder and CEO.
