This presentation will be at the beginner level, aimed at securing a dial-up,
cable modem or ADSL connected box. It will introduce the concepts of ports &
services, the role of inetd and tcpwrappers, packet filters, and commonly
available security tools like Portsentry. A list of security related URLS will
be furnished as well.
PLUG (the Piedmont Linux Users' Group) is an open membership group which serves
Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and the surrounding area.
The group meets informally on the third Thursday of each month at 7pm, usually
in Calloway Hall on the Wake Forest University campus.
