I have developed a Tcl/Tk application for the Amateur Radio APRS system.
It was intentionaly written to run under Linux/Windows and other OS's
running Tcl/Tk with no code changes other then specifing the serial port
of the TNC. I only have the resources to test under Linux and Windows.
The main feature is that it uses the US Census Bureau's on-line Tiger
mapping service. This great service allows users to get US maps from
them using just the http protocol, and not have to use a web browser.
It is not a full blown app at this time in the state of
winAPRS/javaAPRS. It was written over Christmas/New Years holidays just
to fill in cold nights.
What it does do is to provide a source code base for future expansion
and customization.
Features:
Uses Tiger on-line mapping service.
Map can be zoomed in and out with mouse.
Map can be re-centered using the mouse.
Latitude and Longitude of a point can be read using the mouse.
Decodes a subset of the APRS format and displays the station and
callsign on the map.
And, since it is Tcl/Tk scripting language, ya get the source. I'm
releasing it under the GPL license.
