-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
I have just uploaded the following files to:
ftp://ftp.replay.com/pub/replay/incoming/
xpdf-0.80-decrypt-1.src.rpm
xpdf-0.80-decrypt-1.i386.rpm
I assume that they will eventually be moved to:
ftp://ftp.replay.com/pub/replay/linux/redhat/SRPMS/xpdf-0.80-decrypt-1.src.rpm
ftp://ftp.replay.com/pub/replay/linux/redhat/i386/xpdf-0.80-decrypt-1.i386.rpm
This is a version of xpdf-0.80 but with a patch (included in the
..src.rpm as "xpdf-0.80-decrypt.patch") that enables it to read
encrypted pdf files. See the file README.decryption that is included
within the patch (and installed into the /usr/doc/xpdf-0.80/
directory).
This version of xpdf installs into /usr/X11R6/bin/ rather than /usr/bin/
and the binary has been built on a RedHat 5.2 (glibc6) system.
xpdf author: Derek B. Noonburg <derekn _at_ foolabs.com>
xpdf web site: http://www.foolabs.com/xpdf/
(The author is aware of the existance of this version).
Other source: ftp://ftp.sci.usq.edu.au/pub/linux/xpdf/
Description (from the rpm header):
Xpdf is a viewer for Portable Document Format (PDF) files. (These are also
sometimes also called 'Acrobat' files, from the name of Adobe's PDF
software.) Xpdf is designed to be small and efficient. It does not use the
Motif or Xt libraries. It uses standard X fonts. Xpdf is quite usable on a
486-66 PC running Linux.
This version has been patched to enable it to work with encrypted pdf files.
(Sources not for export from the USA).
New in Version 0.80 (from version 0.7a):
- Support for some Japanese fonts (Type 0 fonts using the
Adobe-Japan1-2 character collection, horizontal only).
- Added pdfinfo application.
- Added pdftopbm application.
- Added pdfimages application.
- Xpdf is now licensed under the GPL.
- Lots of other little things (see the CHANGES file)
The decryption rpms have had various tweaks to .spec file to get
things installed *right* (0.7a decryption release had mode 644 for
/usr/doc/xpdf-0.7a) (Also, keep installation into /usr/X11R6/)
There is an xpdf port for DOS and Windows available, compiled using
DJGPP, and includes a decryption-capable version. More information is
available from:
http://www.fzu.cz/~kouba/programs/xpdf/
Enjoy!
Cheers
Tony
