Xenmenu is a program for easily creating text-based menus. Xenmenu was
designed to be highly configurable with minimal effort, to be as secure or
insecure as needed, and to be used as a UN*X shell. Anywhere an ASCII menu
is needed, however, xenmenu can be used; it is a lot smaller than using a
shell scripting language to make menus.
Xenmenu uses a simple scripting language to create menus. A menu
may look like anything you want, or you may choose to let xenmenu format
things for you. Environment variables, the output from programs, and
files may be inserted into menus to give them a tailored look. Menu
options may be programs to execute, other menus to load, or files to
display.
Xenmenu can be configured to only allow the executing of programs, the
viewing of files, and/or the loading of menus under certain directories.
These restrictions are not required, though. Also, xenmenu allows the
setting of environment variables through configuration files under a
users and/or administrators control.

Description: Xenmenu is a highly customizable, text-based menu generator
for UN*X systems. With xenmenu, users have an easy-to-
understand menu programming language with which to create
pleasing menus quickly and easily. These menus, stored as
plain ASCII files, can then be modified on the fly and re-
installed without having to recompile anything or halting
xenmenu while reconfiguring. Xenmenu can also be used as a
secure user shell.
