This implementation of NIS clients for linux based on the YP stuff for
FreeBSD. It is a special port for glibc 2.x and libc >= 5.4.21.
You need at least glibc 2.0.6 or libc 5.4.36 and greater.
This implementation only provides NIS _clients_. You must already have
a NIS server running somewhere. You can find one for linux on
http://www-vt.uni-paderborn.de/~kukuk/linux/nis.html. Please read the
NIS-HOWTO, too.
This version is only a bug fix release. The main fix is for the sporadic
"can't encode/decode xdr arguments" error from yppasswd.
You could find the sources on
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/net/NIS/yp-tools-1.4.1.tar.gz
and mirrors.

Linux is like a Vorlon. It is incredibly powerful, gives terse,
cryptic answers and has a lot of things going on in the background.
